For these baked crispy cauliflower bites, you will need:

  • Cauliflower
  • Tomato paste
  • Plain flour
  • Plant milk
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Oregano
  • Paprika
  • Salt and pepper

How to make baked crispy cauliflower bites

  • First, chop the cauliflower into small similar pieces. You then need to steam them, I simply put a colander on top of a pan with boiling water. Let them steam for 7-9 minutes. This step can be avoided, but the bake time will increase.
  • In the meantime in a shallow bowl combine flour, paprika, oregano, tomato paste, milk, salt and pepper. Fill a separate bowl with breadcrumbs.
  • When the cauliflower is ready to dip each piece in the sauce and coat in breadcrumbs. (If the sauce is not enough, simply add some more milk and flour)Repeat for all and place the pieces on a baking tray with baking paper.
  • Sprinkle with some olive oil and cook in the oven for 15/20 minutes or until crunchy, I recommend putting the grill settings at the very end for a few minutes (Make sure to keep an eye on them while you do because they can burn quickly.

Notes

  • To make them gluten free- swap for gluten free breadcrumbs or make your own breadcrumbs from gluten-free bread.
  • Steaming can be avoided but the bites will take longer to cook in the oven
  • I reccommend using the grill function of your oven for the last 1-2 minutes.
