Braised miso cabbage

If you don’t like cabbage or think it’s boring think again! I hope this recipe can change your mind. It’s super simple but it’s super flavourful.

Miso and cabbage are a combination made in heaven. Cabbage is often underrated but if cooked in the right way it really becomes incredible! It’s often used together with other ingredients and its flavor gets lost.

I myself didn’t think it could taste this good. So, give this recipe a go and let me know what you think!

Braised miso cabbage

Super simple yet super flavorful miso cabbage.

Ingredients
  

  • half a big cabbage OR 1 small one
  • 2 tsp miso paste
  • 1 cup vegetable stock
  • 1/2 tbsp sugar
  • 2 shallots chopped
  • Olive oil to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp potato starch OR cornstarch

Instructions
 

  • Cut the cabbage into thick slices. Season each side with salt and pepper.
  • Heat up olive oil in a pan on medium/low heat When it’s hot aff shallots. Cook for 4/5 minutes.
  • Add miso paste and mix until its combined with the oil. Add some water if necessary.
  • Add the cabbage slices, increase the heat and let them become golden brown on both sides.
  • Reduce the heat to medium Add hot vegetable broth to the pan, cover with a lid and let cook for about 10 minutes.
  • Remove the cabbage from the pan. Add potato starch to the liquid and keep mixing until it thickens. This will be the dressing.
  • Serve the cabbage and top with the sauce. Enjoy!
