Green Peas Bites (Polpette) With Vegan Tzatziki Dip

These green peas balls are super easy and quick. They are simple but still full of flavour, if you love peas you need to try these! They come with a refreshing vegan tzatziki dip.

Polpette or veggie meatballs are super easy and versatile. They can be made with so many ingredients and these with peas are super delicious! They rely on a very few ingredients that you might already have in your pantry, they are a super quick meal!

They can be served as a starter or side and they are perfect with a dip like this tzatziki.

Green Peas Balls with a vegan tzatziki dip

All you need for these green peas balls:

  • Peas, frozen
  • Bread
  • Onion
  • Basil
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

Step by step Instructions

  1. In a pan add olive oil and sauté onion and peas for 5/10 minutes, adding some water if necessary. Season with salt.

2. Add the peas and onion to a food processor or use a hand blender, add bread, basil, salt and pepper. Slightly wet your hands and form balls.

Sautee in a pan with some oil until browned on both sides. Alternatively, cook in the oven at 200 grill setting for 10/15 minutes. To make the tzatziki grate a cucumber, get rid of the water with a strainer, then mix with a plant-based yoghurt, mint, minced garlic, lemon juice and salt and pepper. Enjoy!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small red onion
  • 200 g peas, frozen
  • 1 slice of bread (I used wholemeal)
  • 10 basil leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Tzatziki

  • 1 cucumber skin on
  • 1 garlic, minced
  • 1 1/5 tbsp lemon juice
  • A pinch salt and pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped mint leaves
  • 1 cup vegan yoghurt

Instructions
 

  • Sautee onion and peas in some olive oil for 5/10 minutes, adding some water if mecessary. Season with salt.
  • Add to a food processor or use a hand blender, add bread, basil, salt and pepper. Blend well and assemble with your hands slightly wet.
  • Sautee in a pan with some oil until browned on both sides. Alternatively cook in the oven at 200 grill setting for 10/15 minutes.

Tzatziki

  • Grate the cucumber than get rid of excess water with a strainer, then mix with plant-based yoghurt, mint, minced garlic, lemon juice and salt and pepper.Chill for 30 minutes before serving.
